God’s undeserved favor toward us gives us total security. He has promised to always protect believers and take care of them. The devil knows that, and is therefore always trying to put us in a place where we are constantly questioning and doubting God’s Word on this. God is the God of forgiveness; He will forgive almost any sin, except the sin of unbelief. This is because we are free moral agents; unbelief cannot be forgiven, only repented of. We must believe that we no longer have to work hard to deserve God’s grace or live in fear of being punished for a sinful act like the people did under the old covenant; all we need to do is trust in Jesus and in the power of His blood, and our eternal salvation is secure. Faith in this blocks all enemy attacks.
