Most people do not understand God’s merciful nature. When something bad happens, we tend to think it is because God is punishing us; however, He does not punish people. In addition to God, the devil is another influence in the world we must consider; when things happen, we must remember that God is never the author of bad things. Religion tells us the opposite, which is why having a genuine relationship with God protects us from getting the wrong impression of Him. God is indeed powerful, but He is the very essence of love. He uses trouble and adversity to strengthen our faith and mature us spiritually, so that we will be ready for the blessings He wants to heap on us. We can rejoice in the midst of our trials, in the knowledge that God will show us mercy and ultimately give us victory over them.
