We live in a time in which everyone wants to be successful, but no one wants to do what is necessary to be a success. Most people want to be the boss, but few are willing to be a servant. True leadership is demonstrated by a willingness to serve; to be a great leader, we begin by serving others. We have the perfect example of humble service in Jesus Christ, who willingly served others; if we are to be His disciples, we are expected to do the same. The lessons Jesus taught about servanthood are in direct opposition to what the world thinks, but the attitude of a servant is pleasing to God; He blesses and anoints those who put themselves last. The world is obsessed with self-centeredness and refuses to acknowledge that genuine promotion comes only from God. We succeed when we serve Him through service to our fellow man.
