Good character allows God to lead us where He wants us to go in life. For this to happen, we must allow Him to eliminate any character flaws we may have; one of those flaws is the tendency to manipulate others to get our own way. Manipulation uses anger, guilt, shame, or any other negative emotion to get another person to do what we want. This is dishonest, self-centered, and displeasing to God; it is a work of the flesh that produces nothing positive. If we see ourselves in this description, change is possible by standing on the authority God gave us as believers and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to transform us. The world operates under manipulation; letting God guide us and teach us the truth allows Him to deliver us from it. Digging into His Word and properly dividing it keeps us safe from the dangers of being manipulated.
