It is important for us as Christians to mature not only spiritually, but also emotionally. If we do not grow in this area and fail to control our emotions, they can become a powerful force that we must deal with when we are attacked by negativity. Emotionally mature people have the wisdom to learn from others’ mistakes and experiences. They actively seek out multiple points of view to inform and give perspective to their own point of view. They are not threatened by opposing viewpoints; neither are they afraid to question their own convictions. Gaining biblical wisdom in this area requires a willingness to examine the issue from someone else’s point of view. The world is full of people with differing opinions; being open-minded enough to let them teach us something we did not know before strengthens and grows us.
