As Christians, we need to know the difference between integrity and character. Integrity adheres to a code of conduct; believers live specifically by the principles of God’s Word. By comparison, good character is shown by doing the right thing simply because it is right; the difference between the two is action. Integrity reflects our morals and is associated with honesty, respect, trust, responsibility, and a willingness to help others and keep our promises. Integrity and character are closely linked; the decision to associate with people of integrity enhances our character, and our character is the result of our integrity. In the believer, character is a consistent manifestation of Jesus in our lives. Our character determines where we end up in life; therefore, letting God’s Word shape it ensures that our destination is the one He intends for us.
