Because we are all human, we all are acquainted with guilt. All of us at some time or another have said or done something that we later regretted. A guilty conscience robs us of our peace, but this is not God’s will for us. Guilt often comes from sin, and the realization that we have done wrong; it stalks our minds and tries to steal our happiness and mental stability. However, the finished works of Jesus enable us to deal with this emotion; His blood is the answer to our sin and guilt. Choosing any other way to deal with it will lead to failure. Faith that God is greater than our guilty feelings gives us a clear conscience.
