Knowing God’s will for our lives in general is necessary on our Christian journey, but believers must go deeper and be more specific. Being uncomfortable is a part of life; when we are going through something painful, we must ask God what His will is for our discomfort. Despite how unpleasant it feels, God wants to grow and mature us spiritually; it is therefore pointless to ask Him to remove the discomfort. We must not assume that just because we are Christians, we will never encounter trouble. In the midst of something, we may not see God’s hand in the situation; however, persevering and continuing to press forward through it gives us a new perspective on how God uses even bad things to benefit us. He used suffering to develop Jesus; we therefore should expect the same in our own lives. Every problem we have and every painful experience we go through gives us another opportunity to grow and become more like Christ.
