When we reconcile with a friend and restore a previously broken relationship, we experience the joy and emotional healing that reconciliation brings. This is especially true when we reconcile with God. Since the garden of Eden, mankind’s relationship with God had been severed because of sin; however, Jesus restored it when He came to earth as a man. We could never be reconciled to God unless we were as sinless as Christ; therefore, when Jesus died on the cross, He exchanged our sinfulness for His righteousness so that we could stand in God’s presence. Getting born again allows God to stop counting our sins against us, and instead credit righteousness to us. God wants to be reconciled with everyone, regardless of who they are. Reconciliation can only begin when we share the same mindset as Jesus, the great equalizer.
