Marriages are highly valuable to God; He wants very deeply for us to succeed in these relationships. For this to happen, husbands and wives need to first have a relationship with God and with His Word. Without Jesus, nothing holds together—including the marriage relationship; He is always the third party in every successful marriage. In the godly marriage, the wife submits to her husband not according to the world’s definition, but according to the example Jesus set by His submission to God. However, submission works both ways; the husband is to respect, honor, love, value, and cherish his wife. Mutual respect is a powerful force in a marriage because it indicates that both the husband and the wife value each other. God is willing and to bless marriages that are based on His Word.
