God created men and women as equals. This was always His original plan since He created Adam and then Eve from Adam’s rib. However, contemporary society—including many churches today—still reflects the old, patriarchal mindset that Jesus came to change. Under the new covenant of grace, both genders have been made equal and one through Christ. No longer does the man rule over the woman. As women, God is calling us to stand beside men as His representatives to fulfill His will on the earth; in this capacity, we must not limit ourselves only to what the world says we can do. Discovering God’s plan for our lives therefore involves embracing the oneness we find only in Jesus.
