Grace is unearned favor from God, and when we consider his favor, we realize we could never make Him do anything for us through our own performance or self-effort. If we could earn God's grace, then it would not be grace. However, on a spiritual level, if we are in the correct position, then we can receive it. Receiving grace has nothing to do with how holy or obedient we are, or whether we pray enough. But when we believe, we receive it in abundance.
