Grace is a basic concept we as Christians need to understand. It has many facets to it, one of which is an expression of God’s infinite love for us. Before Jesus came, God’s justice prevented Him from showing fallen mankind the unrestrained love He wanted to operate in. The law dictated that the punishment for sin was death; Jesus’ death on the cross paid for all our sins, thereby satisfying God’s justice. The grace that Jesus brought enables us to keep God’s moral law as contained in the Ten Commandments, which was impossible to do under the old system of rule-keeping. It changes us from the inside so that we want to do what pleases Him. God’s unmerited favor is available to us by faith; as free moral agents, never has it been so important to decide to believe in Jesus Christ.
