The life of a servant matters greatly to God and should also matter to us. Jesus promises to bless those who choose such a lifestyle. The absence of a servanthood mentality prevents unity and instead fosters dissention and selfish attitudes; therefore, having the same mindset as Christ is vital. Serving others is God’s will for every born-again Christian. Developing the heart of a servant requires that we trust God in every area of our lives. Humble servanthood demonstrates Christian love to the world, sets an example for others, and allows them to see Jesus in us. Submitting our wills to God’s will and letting the Holy Spirit lead us gives us hearts to serve and makes us into the image of Christ.
