God loves us more than we could ever imagine. This is something we must believe, and one of the things the Holy Spirit was sent to convince us of. The devil will constantly challenge our faith; we fight his attacks by having faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ, not in our own works. When Jesus went to the cross, His forgiveness took care of all sin except for the sin of disbelief in Him. However, if we have been born again, the Holy Ghost is constantly working in us to resolve this issue. The covenant of grace gives us the opportunity to have a personal relationship with Christ; the closer the relationship, the easier it becomes to resist fear and trust in Him. Once we understand that our right-standing with God hinges on our belief and not our actions, our entire lives are transformed.
