Since the beginning of time, our enemy, the devil, has attacked our relationships and tried to create enmity and hatred between genders. Many of us model our marriage relationships after our parents’ roles, which may not be scripturally-based. God has plenty to say about gender roles but, if we take Scriptures out of context, we will misinterpret what He is saying to us. Accepting wrong-teaching in this area leads towrong-believing, which results in wrong-living. We must not compartmentalize God, but rather allow His grace to work in every area of our lives, including our relationships. Letting Him, instead of the world, define gender roles liberates men and women while greatly enriching marriages. If we can understand just how much God values us and sees us in His plans, then we can live the life He wants for us and be the community that the world needs to see.
